Model United Nations (MUN)
Description:
Welcome! This club will focus on United Nations and Current World Issues. We will be exploring the topics listed on the link below and developing an understanding of various perceptions of those topics from local and global perspectives. We will be working individually, in small groups, and have large group discussions. Students will be preparing for a culminating two-day conference on March 16th through March 18th, 2018 at the University of Arizona where they will represent the perspective of a nation in a committee on the topic. While students are encouraged to attend
this conference it is not required. The club is designed to develop empathetic, critical thinking, involved citizens in what is an increasingly global environment in which we live. We will learn through a combination of video, research of both historical and current articles and role-play developing public speaking, procedural etiquette, diplomacy and professionalism.
Students who have developed fluency in Spanish are encouraged to join the bilingual committees giving them a unique
opportunity for immersion in the language.
Students, if you are interested in finding out more information or joining the club, see Mrs. Schorey in room 102.
Donations can be made to this club using the link at northlandprep.org or printing off the Tax Credit form attached below and sending it to NPA
